Applying (generalised) Costas Arrays to efficient lightweight key predistribution for grid-based networks
Title: Applying (generalised) Costas Arrays to efficient lightweight key predistribution for grid-based networks
Speaker: Keith Martin (Information Security Group, Royal Holloway, London)
Date: Monday 26 November at 4pm
Place: Mathematical Sciences Seminar Room, UCD
Abstract: We set out a simple framework for classifying lightweight key
establishment schemes that are designed for the likes of wireless
sensor networks in terms of those properties that directly influence
key distribution requirements. In doing so we indicate that the focus
of existing research in this area does not always match application
requirements. We then discuss a particular application environment
where network entities are arranged in a grid. We show that the
structured topology of these networks can be exploited to develop key
establishment schemes based on Costas Arrays (and a generalised
variant) that perform significantly better than existing general
techniques.
