December 9-11 2009: Brian Baldwin (CSI) attended the conference ReConFig'09, International Conference on ReConFigurable Computing and FPGAs, Cancun, Mexico. While there he presented a poster "Reconfigurable Hardware Implementation of Arithmetic Modulo Minimal Redundancy Cyclotomic Primes for ECC".

December 14 – 17 2009: Cathy McFadden (CSI) attended the Twelfth IMA International Conference on CRYPTOGRAPHY AND CODING, Royal Agricultural College, Cirencester, UK. Gary McGuire and Mike Scott were on the programme committee.

December 4 2009: Andreas Kendziorra (CSI) and Prof. Stefan E. Schmitd gave a joint talk at the Algebra Institute of the Technical University of Dresden, Germany.
The title of the talk was "Adjunctions of posets and finite simple semirings".

Grant awarded: Mark Hamilton (CSI) was awarded a European mobility grant which allows him to travel and work in ENSSAT at the University of Rennes for 5 months. The grant was awarded by "International Doctoral College of the European University of Brittany."
