"The Claude Shannon Workshop on Coding and Cryptography" May 17th & 18th 2010
University College Cork is holding "The Claude Shannon Workshop on Coding and Cryptography" on the 17th & 18th of May 2010, sponsored by the SFI Mathematics Initiative in Coding and Cryptography:
Due to the overwhelming response received last year, the Claude Shannon Institute is running its national competition again coinciding with the birthday of Claude Shannon. All primary schools in Ireland will be posted a Happy Birthday Claude! poster. The competition targets 3rd Class primary school students and its purpose is to teach the children about Claude Shannon.

Transition Year Students visit Claude Shannon Institute
February 8-12 2010: Two transition year students from Tempologue College visited the Claude Shannon Institute for the week as part of their work experience. They worked with PhD students Richard Moloney and Cathy McFadden, learning about number theory and cryptography.
