Ireland funds great research…..A large advert was run by Science Foundation Ireland in Nature summarizing the current employment opportunities on SFI funded research projects. The Claude Shannon Institute was part of that advert.

Weekly Group Meetings were held in UCD in the areas of Elliptic Curve Cryptography, Space Time Codes, Costas Arrays, Boolean Functions and LDPC Codes and Network Coding. Gary McGuire gave two talks on "the CM method" in the CSI ECC weekly meeting, on October 24 and October 31.

Adam Duffy received his Ph.D., "An Experimental Analysis Architecture for Elliptic Curve Algorithms". Supervisor: Tom Dowling (CSI)

Alan Stears was awarded a laptop from IBM at the Centre for Advanced Studies Dublin Symposium for winning the IBM Eclipse Open Source Competition.

Yejun Zou (CSI) and Tom Dowling (CSI) hosted the kick off meeting for industrial collaboration with CSI partner Intel.

October 5 & 6 2007: Gary McGuire (CSI) attended the American Mathematical Society Sectional Meeting in Chicago, USA. He gave a talk entitled "Quadratic Forms in Coding Theory" in the special session "Special Session on Algebraic Coding Theory (in honor of Harold N. Ward's retirement)."
