December 5, 6 2007: Rachel Quinlan (NUIG) visited Rod Gow (CSI) to collaborate on a Galois theory project.

December 5 2007: Konstantinos Drakakis (CSI) gave a talk entitled “Costas Arrays” at the Hamilton Institute (NUIM).

December 4 2007: Vitaly Skachek (CSI) gave a talk entitled "Linear-Programming Decoding of Non-Binary Linear Codes" (joint work with M.F. Flanagan, E. Byrne, M.Greferath). The abstract of the talk was submitted and will appear in the Book of Abstracts.

December 4 2007: Gary McGuire gave a talk entitled "Fourier Spectrum and Subspaces of Matrices" at the Coding Theory meeting, Oberwolfach, Germany.

Eimear Byrne gave a talk entitled "On Almost Perfect Nonlinear Functions" at the Coding Theory Meeting, Oberwolfach, Germany.

December 3-7 2007: Gary McGuire (CSI), Eimear Byrne(CSI), Marcus Greferath (CSI), Vitaly Skachek (CSI), Patrick Fitzpatrick (CSI) were invited to attend a Coding Theory meeting at Oberwolfach, Germany. Patrick Fitzpatrick was unable to attend but all others did attend. All gave talks on their research.

Weekly Group Meetings were held in UCD in the areas of Elliptic Curve Cryptography (Wed 10.30-12), Costas Arrays (Fri 1.30-3), Boolean Functions (Tues 2-3), LDPC Codes (Wed 12-1) and Network Coding (Thur 3-4).

The topics presented at the weekly Elliptic Curve Cryptography Meetings for November 2007 were as follows:
November 7 2007: Laura Hitt spoke about divisor basics, necessary for many techniques using elliptic curves.
November 14 2007: Ezekiel Kachisa spoke about cryptographic pairings and what constitutes a pairing friendly curves.
November 21 2007: Anna Johnston spoke about primality testing and generation using probabilistic and provable methods.
November 28 2007: Janice Asuncion spoke about elliptic curve primality proving.

November 3rd 2007: Luis Dominguez (CSI) attended the Annual General Meeting of the Irish Linux User Group.

November 13-15 2007: Gary McGuire (CSI) was invited to attend the Certicom® Elliptic Curve Cryptography conference in Toronto, Canada.

November 21-23 2007: Gary McGuire (CSI) was invited to attend the 60th Birthday Symposium for Tor Helleseth at the Selmer Centre in Bergen, Norway.

November 29 2007: Elva O’Sullivan (CSI) attended a 1 day workshop given by Dr. Sean McCarthy from Hyperion LTD and hosted by Enterprise Ireland. The course was entitled How to write a competitive proposal for Framework 7.
