September 10-12 2008: Nigel Boston (CSI) was invited by Professor Andrzej Zuk of Universit'e Paris 7 to visit and give a lecture in their Analysis and Geometry on Groups seminar series. His lecture delivered was entitled: "Random p-groups".

September 22 -24 2008: Mike Scott (CSI) was as invited speaker at the ECC 2008 workshop in Utrecht, Holland where he gave a presentation entitled "New record breaking implementations of ECC on quadratic extensions using endomorphisms" based on joint work with Steven Galbraith and Xibin Lin.

September 5, 2008: Vitaly Skachek (CSI) presented the paper "Lower Bounds on the Minimum Pseudodistance for Linear Codes with q-ary PSK Modulation over AWGN" at the 5th International Symposium on Turbo Codes & Related Topics in Lausanne, Switzerland. (Joint work with Mark F. Flanagan).

September 2 2008: Mike Scott (CSI) presented the paper "Exponentiation in Pairing-Friendly groups Using Homomorphisms", by S. D. Galbraith and M. Scott (CSI) at the second International Conference on Pairing-based Cryptography (Pairing 2008) held at Royal Holloway, University of London in UK.

September 1 2008: Ezekiel Kachisa (CSI) presented the paper "Constructing Brezing-Weng pairing-friendly elliptic curves using elements in the cyclotomic field", by E. J. Kachisa (CSI), E. F. Schaefer and M. Scott (CSI) at the second International Conference on Pairing-based Cryptography (Pairing 2008) held at Royal Holloway, University of London in UK.

Marcus Greferath (CSI) was awarded a Class A (Blue Gene) grant by the Irish
Centre for High End Computing (ICHEC). This prestigious award will
allow him to perform extensive simulations determining the performance
of a promising family of LDPC codes that he recently discovered together

Luis Dominguez (CSI), Gary McGuire (CSI), Richard Moloney (CSI) and Alexei Zaytsev (CSI) attended ECC08, the 12th Elliptic Curve Cryptography Workshop in Utrecht, the Netherlands. Richard Moloney (CSI) gave a 5-minute presentation at the rump session on "Division Polynomials For Twisted Edwards Curves".
