November 20 2008: Nigel Boston (CSI) was invited to give a talk at the Royal Holloway, University of London, Information Security Group Research Seminar. The title of his talk was Stylometric watermarking.

November 17 & 18 2008: Gary McGuire (CSI), Liam Marnane (CSI) and Emanuel Popovici (CSI) attended the SFI Science Summit, Lyrath Estate, Kilkenny.

November 18 2008: Nigel Boston (CSI) was invited to give a talk at the Royal Holloway, University of London, Pure Maths Seminar. The title of his talk was Random groups in number theory and topology.

On Friday November 7th 2008 the Claude Shannon Institute held a Post-Graduate Workshop day at the Crowne Plaza Northwood Hotel in Santry. It was attended by all members of the Claude Shannon Institute. During the day each post-doctoral fellow gave a 30 minute presentation on their research.

November 1 2008: Nigel Boston (CSI) was invited to give a talk at the UCD-Nottingham Number Theory Day, UCD.The title of his talk was Non-abelian Cohen-Lenstra heuristics.

October 16 2008: Konstantinos Drakakis (CSI) was invited by the School of Mathematics at Dublin City University (DCU), to give a lecture. The title of his talk was Costas Clouds.

Dr. Marcus Greferath (CSI) was awarded the SFI PI Award. His grant was about public-key cryptography based on finite simple semi-rings. He was approved for €467K over 4 years to hire 1 post-doc and two doctoral students.
