February 9–13 2009: Vijay Singh (CSI) visited Prof Steven Galbraith, Royal Holloway College, University of London for research discussions.

February 6–10 2009: Nigel Boston (CSI) visited the University of Warwick.
On February 6 2009 he gave a pure maths colloquium entitled "Random groups in number theory and topology".
On February 10 2009 he gave a Number theory, seminar entitled "Arboreal Galois representations and iterates of polynomials".

February 4–6 2009: Nigel Boston (CSI) visited the University of Exeter for research discussions. On February 5 2009 he gave a pure maths seminar entitled "Arboreal representations, factoring iterates, and p-extensions".

February 2–6 2009: Vijay Singh (CSI), Richard Moloney (CSI), Danny Lynch (CSI) and David Conti (CSI) attended Winter School in Mathematical Foundations in Cryptography in Lausanne. This event was organized by the MAYA workgroup of the ECRYPT II Network of Excellence.

February 2–6 2009: Brian Badwin and Luis Julian Dominguez Perez attended the ECRYPT II VAMPIRE workshop held in Lausanne.

February 4 2009: Vitaly Skachek(CSI) visited the Bar-Ilan University, Tel Aviv, Israel, and gave a talk entitled "Linear-programming Decoding of Nonbinary Linear Codes" (joint work with M. Flanagan, E. Byrne and M. Greferath).

February 23 – 28 2009: Marcus Greferath (CSI) was invited to Moscov State University for an international conference on the occasion of the 80th birthday of the internationally renowned algebraist Kostrikin. On February 24 he gave a talk
on the topic of extending isometries between codes over ring-linear codes.

The First Irish Cryptography Day was held on Wednesday, February 25, 2009. The day was organised and hosted by the Claude Shannon Institute. The purpose of the day was to bring together academics, industry and government on the island of Ireland who have an interest in cryptography and security. This was the first of what is to become an annual event.
